It is normal for phones and computers to heat up when being used. This is especially true when the device's processor is operating at a high level, such as when you're watching videos or playing games. When the device becomes too hot or uncomfortable to hold, please power off the device and wait at least five minutes before restarting.
Here are several tips to avoid device overheating:
- Limit the duration of each gaming session on your phone
- Limit the number of apps that are running in the background
- Check for rogue apps that are draining your battery more than you would expect them to (Settings > Battery: tap on the 3-dot icon in the upper-right corner)
- If you use a phone case, remove it temporarily to allow the phone to cool down properly
- Reduce the screen brightness and turn on adaptive brightness (Settings > Display)
- Use the charger that came with your phone
- Check your cellular signal strength; move to an area with high signal strength if possible
- Move the device away from direct sunlight and warm temperatures
